Stunning scenery abounds Glencolmcille from the spectacular cliffs at Sliabh League to the deserted famine village at Port and from the beautiful Silver strand beach in Malinbeg to the breath taking Glengesh Pass on the road to Ardara.
Glencolmcille is renowned for its traditional Irish Music. A unique style of fiddle music is celebrated every year with Fiddlers week (1st week of Aug) when players from all over the world gather for a week of playing, tuition and craic. “Glen” is also well known both nationally and internationally as the home of Oideas Gael, an Irish language centre to promote the Irish language and culture.
Failte Ireland has designated two walks in the area as part of the national walks network known as the Glencolmcille Loop. Visit the folk village museum and experience life as it was in the 1700s, 1800s and 1900s. Attend locally a craft class in painting pottery, flute and bodhran playing.
For the marine enthusiast there is sea angling charters (including tuna charters), scuba diving, and marine sightseeing tours which are based in Teelin, Killybegs and Donegal Town.
For the golfer the cottage is ideally situated for playing the great links courses of south Donegal including the Donegal Golf Club at Murvagh, Glencolmcille, Narin and Portnoo and Bundoran.
