" This was our third stay this year! It is really lovely cottage and the owners are really nice. "

" The cottage is immaculately clean and very nicely decorated and finished yet retains a cosy feel and is located in such a beautiful peaceful area of the countryside. The owners are kindness itself and left a bottle of wine chocolates flowers and some milk and general provisions to start us off. There were village shops and pubs serving food very close by. We took advantage of the riding facilities available via the owners as they also have a riding school. A point very worthy of noting is that the beds were very comfortable. We would like to thank the owners for such a fantastic holiday and let them know we will be returning for longer. We didn't want to come back to the Midlands! A huge thanks xxxx "

" We booked this cottage as it was so close to Ecclesfield and Chapeltown and we wanted to research family history. It was superb for this purpose but was also so much more - its of a very good standard and a good base for exploring the surrounding area. Situated next to Prior Royd Woods it was ideal for walking the dog and each day we seemed to walk higher and the views are breathtaking. Offers the best of both worlds - Sheffield is only 4 miles away yet it feels as though the cottage is in a true rural locality. "

" Had a great welcome by the owner nice touch was the chocolates and bottle of wine. The bed gave us the best night sleep we have ever had. The location is perfect for anyone who has a dog plenty of woodland walks in a very peaceful area. "

" A lovely cottage in a peaceful village setting. Close to a village shop, butchers and three pubs. The village is suurounded by beautiful countyside and areas such as Ladybower and the famous Derwent reservoirs are easily accesible as is Hathersage. The Meadowhall shopping centre is an additional attraction. The cottage is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. "

" Prior Royd Cottage was our safe haven of Winter peace, tranquility and country side delight for those few precious weeks. Warm, toasty and comfortable inside were we and days of softly fallen snow created our Winter woodland viewing magic.
Wheat Woods were but a stride from the cottage and filled with meandering paths that would curl, twist and turn - always beckoning one on to walk more! Our dog's delight was two-fold, hers and ours as her energy knew no limits as she bounded forward on trails that seemed never ending.
There were super friendly village folk and locals out and about for daily walks in the woods with family and dogs, along with back-packing serious walkers off for the day. But near or far there was beauty and joy to behold with nature at it's finest. Snow-topped trees and dappled leaves with miles of snow carpeted paths - you could 'hear' the silence and breath into the tranquility of that.
Our quaint and warm cottage was a welcome waiting for us, full amenities, well equipped kitchen, fabulously comfortable bed to fall into, steamy hot shower, great t.v. viewing and very nice owners. Our welcome basket and flowers were a very much appreciated gesture.
Our holiday cottage at the end of the lane was throughly enjoyed by us and our dog. Most mornings we would draw back the curtains to see the horses gently gathering, lightly tethered, hooves tapping and noses snorting in anticipation of that long for trot alone the bridle paths. Country life at it's finest! And at the end of the day we could walk into the village and be drawn into by the night lights into the Red Lion pub for that needed night cap and delicious food. Doggie friends welcome too.
We await the Spring for a re-visit and will ingest all that the season changes of nature will have to offer. "
