The cottage provides a convenient base for golf on Ayrshire's top golf courses at Turnberry, Ayr, Prestwick and Royal Troon and sailing excursions to the islands of Arran, Bute and Ailsa Craig. The whole of the area is steeped in Burns history and the town of Ayr - an easy drive - has much in the way of historic tributes to the famous Bard. In the nearby village of Kirkoswald - where Burns was a scholar - is Souter Johnnie's cottage and the Souter Johnnie Inn providing good food and drink, a tearoom and delicatessen which are well worth a visit.
