The surrounding countryside is spectacular for walking and the Southern Upland Way passes nearby. Numerous recreational activities in the area include golf, fishing, pony trekking, cycling and even gold-panning! Easy day excursions can be enjoyed to Dumfries and Moffat or to Glasgow or Edinburgh (both an hour's drive).
