Holywell, home to the famous St. Winifred's Well (described as the Lourdes of Wales), is within close proximity as is the sandy beach at Prestatyn. Surrounded by golf courses, walking and mountain biking, this is an ideal base for day trips to medieval Chester, Victorian Llandudno and all of the Snowdonia National Park. Afonwen is a village with a pub and craft centre in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty between the northern edge of the Clwydian Hill Range and the miles of sandy beaches along the North Wales Coast. Nearby are Mold, Denbigh and Ruthin with excellent shops and craft centres, and Prestatyn, whose Blue Flag beach provides bathing, watersports and fishing. This is an ideal location for exploring the attractions of North Wales, with access to walking, mountain biking and birdwatching amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Clwydian Hill Range and the Offa's Dyke Pathway.
