The Property
A delightful stone built, semi-detached cottage, originally part of a 17th Century farmhouse, set in the village of Meliden, 1 mile from the sandy beaches of the North Wales coast. The cottage has a cosy, welcoming atmosphere - an ideal combination of traditional cottage charm with some contemporary furnishings, such as the Shaker style kitchen. There is an attractive brick fireplace in the sitting room, a Victorian iron bed and leaded windows in one of the bedrooms, and a corner Jacuzzi bath. Only 1 mile from Prestatyn’s Blue Flag beach and many good golf courses, the cottage makes an excellent base for walkers and cyclists, with Offa’s Dyke and the Clwydian Hills close by. Visit Snowdonia including Mt. Snowdon with her summit railway, Lakes Bala and Brenig and famous castles, including Rhuddlan only 2 miles away.
Two bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x twin. Ground floor bathroom with corner Jacuzzi bath with hand shower, basin and WC. Modern fitted kitchen. Utility room. Sitting room with dining area and log effect electric fire.
Meliden was once a very important lead-mining town that made an important contribution to the area’s economy. Today, it acts as a picturesque and historic base for visitors to explore the rest of the region. There are a number of good pubs and restaurants in which to dine and Meliden has its own attraction in the form of Gop Hill; a Neolithic burial mound that provides evidence of man’s existence in the area since the Stone Age. Nearby, Rhuddlan boasts its own majestic castle and there are a variety of National Trust properties to explore. Prestatyn, another nearby town, has achieved the coveted Blue Flag status for its beach and now plays host to holidaymakers looking to relax on the golden sands or indulge in the many water sports on offer. The historic city of Chester is also within easy reach, offering Roman ruins, designer shopping and evenings out.
