The charming seaside town of Nairn, with its award-winning blue flag sandy beach is within 3 miles. Here there is also an excellent selection of restaurants, bars and small shops, together with a fascinating area known as Fisher town from the days when Nairn was a thriving fishing village. The area is renowned for its wealth of sporting activities and places of interest. There are two championship golf courses in close proximity and numerous other courses within easy reach. Horse riding, cycling, sailing, wind-surfing, canoeing and fishing are all enjoyed locally. The Moray coast is renowned for its fine beaches and its sea-life, particularly the bottle-nosed dolphins and colonies of seals that are regularly spotted close to shore. There are numerous historic sites and places of interesting the vicinity. Cawdor Castle is well worth a visit, with its association with Macbeth; the garden grounds are simply stunning. Culloden battlefield, Fort George and the Whisky and Castle Trails are all popular with visitors.
