More about Silk Cottage

This cosy, detached, stone holiday cottage dates back to 1785 and was once part of a former silk mill. Located on the edge of Eyam village, it has been beautifully converted retaining stunning beams and designed with first floor living space to make the most of the stunning countryside views over Eyam Edge, the dividing line between White and Dark Peak.

One of the Peak District’s most historic and best preserved villages, Eyam is best known as the intriguing Plague village and makes a simply fascinating base. The village itself is home to quaint local and independently run shops, tea rooms and a village pub which is reputed to be one of the most haunted buildings in Derbyshire.

The surrounding area offers plentiful walking and cycling in the stunning Hope Valley countryside, and other local villages just 10 minutes away include Tideswell, with its remarkable church known as the ‘Cathedral of the Peak’, and Hathersage, home to one of the few remaining open air swimming pools. The magnificent historic houses of Eyam Hall, Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall can all be reached in under 20 minutes, and Hardwick Hall and Bolsover Castle in around 40 minutes. The bustling market town of Bakewell, famous for its tarts and puddings is just 15 minutes away and Buxton with its opera house or Matlock Bath with its cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham is just half an hour away. For the ultimate adrenalin rush, Alton Towers can be reached within an hour. For those wanting to give their cars a rest, Grindleford, five minutes, and Hathersage, both have train links to Sheffield and Manchester city centre, and Eyam is well served with regular bus services from Sheffield, Buxton and Chesterfield.

Ground Floor: The property has gas central heating and comprises:
Kitchen/dining room: With tiled floor, gas cooker, microwave, fridge with ice box and washer/dryer.
With shower over spa bath, WC, heated towel rail and underfloor heating.
