Reached along a private driveway, this superb, ultra modern, exceptionally stylish and spacious property, fronts onto the water. Attached on one side, The Retreat enjoys glorious views of the Kingsbridge/Salcombe estuary. From the comfort of the large leather sofas in the living room to the simple elegance of the bedrooms, the sparkling limestone flooring and the outstanding designer bathrooms, this retreat is beautifully furnished in a contemporary, very comfortable style and really is something very special. The house is set in a slightly elevated position a few yards from the water’s edge (double kayak provided), overlooks the estuary and is situated in the attractive grounds of the owners’ home off a peaceful, quiet private road on the outskirts of Kingsbridge. An outstanding feature of the property is the sun terrace, accessed from the beautiful master bedroom suite on the top floor, enclosed with steel and glass balustrades, and sheltered by an unusual and most attractive floodlit roof garden. A stunning spot to savour the views, delight in the wildlife of the estuary and ideal for al fresco meals. If you can bear to tear yourself away from this incomparable property, the area is spoilt for choice of places to visit, little hamlets and villages scattered across the surrounding countryside, the sailing havens of Dartmouth and Salcombe nearby, and the fantastic cliffs and golden beaches that make this part of the South Hams such a perfect holiday destination.

Everybody hates doing the washing up and the last thing you need is a big family arguement about who is going to do the washing up while you are on holiday.

Curved stairs lead down to the stunning living room, furnished with three generous sofas, glass coffee table, 32” screen TV with DVD and full satellite package including sports and movie channels, audio system with CD player, iPod dock and MP3 socket. This lovely room has floor to ceiling windows and patio doors that open to the terrace and enjoy lovely estuary views. Dining table to seat 8. The very contemporary kitchen area is superbly equipped, has fitted wall units with granite style work surfaces, integral washer/dryer, dishwasher and fridge with freezer compartment, ceramic electric hob with touch controls, eye level microwave and oven/grill. Additional small freezer under the stairs. Ground floor bedrooms. Superb double room with 6ft sleigh bed, floor to ceiling windows with views and patio doors to the garden, fitted cupboard and wall mounted flat screen TV. Twin bedroom with 3ft beds and range of fitted cupboards and wall mounted flat screen TV. Superb contemporary family bathroom with large double ended bath, central taps, basin, WC and large corner shower with rosehead shower head. Curved stairs lead up from the living room to the stunning master suite. This truly lovely room has wonderful views from the floor to ceiling windows. Here the views can be enjoyed from the superb 6ft wide double bed or curl up in the large leather armchair with a book. Wall mounted flat screen TV. The outstanding en-suite bathroom has a large rectangular double ended bath with central taps, basin, WC and separate large shower enclosure. A side door opens to the roof terrace and roof garden, a wonderful spot for breakfast catching the early morning sun.
Outside:
A path leads down to the front door and the garden extends around the side to a terrace in front of the living room, furnished with table and chairs. Lawns extend on to a private lawn area enclosed with hedging, where there is a boules piste. From here there is access to the foreshore. The double kayak, for use at own risk (please bring life jackets) can be wheeled down to the estuary beach for launching. The roof terrace, provided with table and chairs, is accessed from the master suite and has external stairs that wind down to the gardens.
