More about Blue Door Cottages - The Wine Cellar

Ideal base for touring Somerset

The holiday cottages, (refs 30784, 30786 and 30787), have been converted from redundant 18th-century buildings at Sherwood, whilst The Hen House (ref 30785) has been converted from a later small barn. The buildings are surrounded by fields and back on to a valley of mature Forestry Commission woodland. They are set on the lower slopes of the Quantock Hills along narrow winding lanes but only 10 minutes from the motorway. Sherwood is a great place to relax but also makes a wonderful base from which to explore the whole of Somerset and some of the attractions of the surrounding counties. Blue Door Cottages at Sherwood provide pleasantly quirky accommodation for couples and small families. Between them the cottages can easily accommodate up to 18 guests and well-behaved dogs are welcome. The Quantock Hills are an area of wilderness and tranquillity. The Quantock Hills are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which means that its distinctive character and cultural heritage are in the nation’s interest to safeguard them. Physically the Quantock Hills offer great diversity, reflecting the relationship between the geology, slopes and exposure of the area, and the range of past and present human activities and influences. Panoramic views lead you through coast, heath and combe. Explore and you will find rocky Jurassic coastline, exposed heathland summits, deep wooded combes, undulating farmland and attractive villages, all within this protected landscape. There are many NT properties close by, as well as golf, horse riding, walking and bird watching. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

All on ground floor: Living room with double sofa bed. Dining room/kitchen with beams and tiled floor. 1 double (5ft) bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower attachment and toilet.

Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot. High chair. Freeview TV. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Wi-fi. Shared lawned garden with sitting-out area and furniture. Parking (2 cars). Pets welcome - to be kept on lead at all times. No smoking. NB: Pond and stream in garden, 100 yards.
