Westgate Cottage in Holme-next-the-Sea is a bewitching blend of country charm and rusticity, with a large spoonful of style, located in easy walking distance to a sandy beach and along a quiet country lane. It is the perfect getaway for friends and family at any time of the year and welcomes dogs too.

This pretty flint and brick self-catering retreat has a great setting, set back off the road, with a charming garden boasting lovely views over the surrounding fields. Set in the quiet but popular village of Holme-next-the-Sea with its quaint village pub and sandy beach, it also provides easy access to Old Hunstanton with its famous links golf course.

Inside you’ll find that Westgate Cottage offers space in abundance and comes with a wood burning stove, beams, stone floors and a stable door. The sunny garden is delightful and in summer, is filled with birds and butterflies, yet there is welcome shade provided on the swaying hammock under the mature trees. The beach is about a five-minute stroll away, so perfect for children and dogs to explore and spend the day with a picnic.

Step inside the stable door and you’re greeted with a large, light open-plan dining/family room with beams and french doors out onto the terrace and garden. You’ll find the rustic farmhouse- style galley kitchen is well-equipped with a stove, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. A washing machine and tumble dryer can be found in the utility room next door, where your pampered pooches will appreciate the built-in dog bed where they can relax too.

The cosy sitting room has beams and an inglenook fireplace with cosy wood burning stove, perfect for snuggling around on winter evenings and there’s plenty of comfortable seating too.

All the bedrooms and bathrooms are modern yet charming. Downstairs there is a beautifully large twin bedroom with separate downstairs bathroom. Climb the first of two staircases and you’ll discover a landing which leads you to two spacious bedrooms a double and a twin which both share a spacious shower room. The second staircase leads you to a further double bedroom and the master bedroom suite which boasts a pretty Juliette balcony with french doors, overlooking the rear garden and views beyond.

The outside terrace allows you to lounge in the sun and enjoy starlit alfresco suppers. The gardens are mainly laid to lawn, perfect for absorbing the ambiance of this magical coastal garden. There is also a charcoal barbecue to cook up a treat when the summer days are long and warm.

With a big dose of Norfolk charm, this restored flint cottage has oodles of character. You’ll be sure to sleep soundly at Westgate Cottage and enjoy the tranquillity of its location whilst being close to the beach. Stroll down the lane on a morning to swim in the sea, walk to the beach café at Old Hunstanton for lunch, before heading back to dine in the village pub ... it all makes for a perfect day.

If you can tear yourself away and crave a longer walk, then turn right on the coast path and walk to Thornham where you’ll find a plethora of pubs/restaurants, a super deli and fish and chip shop, or turn left and walk to Old Hunstanton beach with its pretty beach huts, golf course, shops and restaurants (including the Michelin-starred Neptune Inn). Day trips to Holkham, Wells-next-the-Sea, Holt and Burnham Market beckon, where you’ll find galleries and independent boutiques and food shops in abundance.

Additional Information
Two well behaved dogs are very welcome (small additional charge) provided they remain on the ground floor at all times.
Some of the doorways are low due to the age and style of the property.
Please note: there is a very small pond in the far corner of the garden, usually drained. However please take care with young children.
